The Heart Behind What We Do
At the heart of our work here at, Touch of Maple, is a simple mission: to help people come back to themselves, reconnect, and rediscover the life they were meant to live.
For women who feel overwhelmed or burnt out, those seeking support through shelters, and men and women in recovery, the horses and I offer a safe space for healing and hope. Together, we rebuild confidence, restore balance, and open the door to transformation, guiding each person toward growth, renewal, and a new beginning.

Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to inspire healing and renewal while helping people build the confidence, communication, and life skills they need to move forward.

FOUNDER & FACILITATOR
Meet Sandra Kajan
Jump back over 50 years ago, and you will know the beginning of my journey with horses. A palomino Shetland pony named "Penny" was how it all began. I was a child happy hacker-rider. My sisters also had ponies or horses. I purchased my first horse with my own money in my teens. I did some showing and the farm name "Touch of Maple" came from one of my show horses. This was his Jockey Club name and it has become the name of our farm, founded in 1993.
I then became immersed in "natural horsemanship", which entails much more than riding. The "natural horsemanship" movement is becoming very intense now which is a very good thing!
Horses have been used and abused for centuries by the human race. Times are changing though, and we must now recognize that horses are sentient beings and that they deserve our respect. If we listen to them and honour them, they are willing to talk to us and help us in the most amazing ways! That's why I have chosen to WORK or PARTNER with the horse on this very amazing journey! Sharing the journey with others is the reason for my tag line: "HORSES REACHING PEOPLE". I want to share my horse's beautiful connection with us to help you improve your life!
A unique, life-changing connection with horses that will re-awaken your soul and leave you with a new beginning in your life!
Our Commitment to Learning
& Equine Welfare
With over 50 years of experience around horses, I’ve combined lifelong learning with certifications that support both people and animals. I am certified by Equine Connection - The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning and proud to be governed by the EAL Network, ensuring the highest standards of equine-assisted learning. Alongside this, I hold the Equus Empowered Certificate in Theory and Integrative Practice, am a certified Equestrian Tai Chi Instructor, and a Level 1 and 2 Reiki Practitioner for people and horses. At Touch of Maple, horse welfare is always at the heart of what we do; guided by the National Farm Animal Care Council’s Code of Practice and supported through Equine Guelph. Each horse here is carefully selected, exceptionally trained and worked with to ensure your safety and comfort, well-cared for, and honoured as a unique teacher with a personality all their own.
